Description

Monarda (bergamot or bee balm)

Family : Lamiaceae

These hairy leaved perennials have aromatic foliage that forms clumping mounds that burst into flower from mid to late summer. The antiseptic properties of the foliage has long been known and the leaves were used as a form of antiseptic by North American Indians. The modern selections are more compact and disease resistant making them excellent garden plants.
