These spreading perennials make clumps via their underground rhizomes which send up shoots in early spring consisting of a pair of leaves and a flower stem with 5 to 15 flowers. The pure white or soft pink flowers are famous for their sweet fragrance. There are selections with attractive foliage or larger more freely produced flower bells
